Sometimes the best examples are those made by idiots. When one local artist was interviewed by our paper, he not only shot himself in the foot by alienating most of the community but may have damaged the saleability of other artists’ works as well. While he talks about paying homage to the masters, perhaps he should have paid more attention to their actions and advice before opening his mouth and inserting both feet. His story should serve as a cautionary tale for all artists and people who are selling creative works.

One of the most fun things about running sites like Blog About Crafts and Crafty Tips Arts & Crafts Directory is how many wonderful and talented people I get to meet. Through the sites and from attending craft shows and fairs, I speak with many artisans and crafters and am continually blown away by the amazing things they are creating.
When I’m lucky enough to tear one of them away from their workshop or get a few moments alone with them, I get an opportunity to explore how and why they create what they do and share it with my readers.
Other articles filed under Artist Profiles come from great stories culled from the news, like the earthquake survivor who filled her time crocheting or the artist who insulted an entire community and what we can learn from his mistakes.
If you are an artist or crafter, who has something exciting and new to share, I would love to hear from you, learn more about your work and invite you to share your work and a bit about yourself. If you know of any great stories in the news about inspirational crafters, please let me know about it so I can share it with others and help promote their cause.
