The posts on writing product descriptions are some of the most popular posts on Blog About Crafts. After all, when selling anything online that isn’t a well-known mass-produced item, it’s the product description that shares with the potential customer what it is that they will receive. A vintage magazine that I found online had a product description for a shawl that contains several ideas that I think we could all learn from.

When it comes to writing product descriptions and taking photographs of handcrafted items, I am fairly good at one and quite inept at the other.
This section of Blog About Crafts is where I share my marketing and writing skills to help crafters in writing product descriptions for the wonderful things they are making. I’ll share my ideas and point out things I think others are doing well.
I’ll try to protect the guilty while sharing information on promoting your products by learning from the mistakes of others.
As for photographing handmade items, I have so much to learn. I have no idea what 90% of my camera’s features do. I won’t proclaim to have much information to share on this issue but I will share those sites where I think anyone who takes photos and particularly folks who are taking photos of items for sale will find useful information. I will provide some critiques (again, not pointing fingers) of things folks are doing to really shoot themselves in the foot as well.
