State of the Link

As it is mid-January and we are firmly into a new year, I thought it was time for an update on my Crafty Tips Arts & Crafts Directory.

Crafty Tips has been online since July 2006. While I wish it was further along than it is (I have so many new ideas in the works!), I am excited how I have been able to help some of my fellow crafters promote their websites and businesses. The top 10 Popular Craft Sites have received over 1400 visitors! Add the 11-20th most popular craft sites listed on Crafty Tips and that number soars to almost 2100!

I started Crafty Tips with the vision of becoming the Source for Craft Sites on the Internet. It is tiresome to visit the search engines looking for a particular topic on crafting only to find literally hundreds of sites that offer little to no value. One of the things that has disappointed me is that even though Crafty Tips has 167 Great Crafting Sites listed, it still has categories with no sites. Believe me, I have tried to find some good ones; it sometimes takes hours to find just one site that is worthy of being shared.

So, as part of my State of the Link report this January, I would invite anyone with a site that covers the following topics to visit the link provided and submit their site for consideration.

Calligraphy
Ceramics
Decals & Transfers
Fairs & Shows
Floral Crafts (please, floral crafts only not fresh cut flower sellers here)
Leather Crafts
Machine Embroidery
Seasonal Crafts
Textiles
Wedding

The great thing about these categories is that they already have assigned page rank and since sites are listed in order of submission, chances are high that early listers will enjoy the best exposure on the higher ranked pages.

There are currently 186 categories on Crafty Tips and many did quite well in the latest Google PR update. The homepage and several interior category pages received a rank of 4 along with many of the categories and subcategories receiving 2’s and 3’s. (There were a few that remained at 0, but I suspect the next update will see that changing.)

Don’t miss out on a chance to get some highly targeted traffic to your crafty site along with all the benefits of a backlink on a page with pagerank that is bound to increase as Crafty Tips grows.
